Night-time creates some of the most challenging conditions for security teams. Low visibility makes it harder to identify movement, monitor perimeters, and gather evidence that remains useful during review. Even a well-lit facility has areas where shadows, distance, or lack of ambient light can reduce what operators see on screen.

To help teams maintain awareness when lighting is at its lowest, FlytBase now supports three focused low-light capabilities. Smart Low Light enhances captured media. Night Mode brightens real-time visibility. NIR improves long-range clarity by increasing contrast. Each serves a specific part of a night-time workflow, and together they help operators monitor, investigate, and document activity with greater confidence.
Smart Low Light for Clearer Evidence Capture
Smart Low Light improves the brightness and detail of photos and videos that are captured during flight. It does not affect what operators see during live monitoring. Instead, it enhances media after the image is taken so that dark scenes appear clearer and easier to analyze when reviewed.
This becomes especially useful when operators need reliable documentation from areas with almost no illumination. A parked vehicle in a shadowed corner of a lot, activity taking place near a dim wall, or items left along a dark perimeter can all be captured with more detail when Smart Low Light is enabled.

Best Suited for:
- Evidence capture during low-light events
- Recording objects or details that are difficult to see live
- Creating clearer visuals for reports and investigations
Smart Low Light helps operators preserve critical information even when the location itself offers almost no lighting.
Night Mode for Brighter Real-Time Visibility
Night Mode enhances what operators see in the moment. By increasing the camera's sensitivity, it produces a brighter and more visible live feed that supports navigation and situational awareness during active monitoring.
With Night Mode enabled, outlines, colors, and motion become easier to interpret. Operators can follow individuals or vehicles, check activity near entrances or rooftops, and respond quickly to alerts from on-site sensors or triggered automations.

Best suited for:
- Live patrols and real-time monitoring
- Responding to intrusions or alarms
- Navigating dark outdoor areas and unlit indoor environments
- Maintaining clear views during fast-moving events
Night Mode allows operators to see more of what is happening on the ground while the situation is still unfolding.
NIR for High-Contrast Long-Distance Visibility
NIR strengthens visibility during long-distance observation. By removing the infrared cut filter, the camera produces a high-contrast black and white view that highlights shapes and movement even when lighting is extremely limited.
This is useful when zooming in from far away or when color information becomes less relevant. NIR helps operators detect movement along a distant fence, identify a person near a rooftop, or monitor activity across large open spaces that have no lighting at all.

Best suited for:
- Long-range tracking during night-time surveillance
- Monitoring large perimeters, rooftops, or open fields
- Detecting movement in areas where light sources are limited
- Observing distant subjects where color adds little detail
NIR helps operators maintain awareness across wide or remote areas where darkness and distance combine to reduce visibility.
Matching Each Mode to the Right Moment
Each capability supports a different operational need.
Smart Low Light improves the clarity of evidence and documentation. Night Mode improves what operators see right now. NIR enhances contrast at distance when light is extremely low.
When combined, these modes support a complete night-time workflow. Operators can track movement using Night Mode, zoom in and enable NIR for distant clarity, and preserve final details with Smart Low Light. The result is a more dependable record of night-time activity and more accurate situational awareness throughout the operation.
Supporting Safer and More Reliable Night-Time Operations
Smart Low Light, Night Mode, and NIR give security operators a stronger set of tools for handling night-time conditions. Clearer visuals, stronger long-range awareness, and better documentation all contribute to faster responses and more confident decisions.
Night-time does not have to limit what drones can reveal. These enhancements expand what security teams can see, capture, and understand, even in environments where light is almost entirely absent.

Smart Low Light enhances captured media only, while Night Mode brightens the live feed for real-time visibility.
NI-R is best for long-distance night-time monitoring where contrast matters more than color, such as perimeter or rooftop surveillance.
Yes. On Dock 3, Night Mode and NI-R can be combined for maximum low-light clarity, with Smart Low Light enhancing the final media.
Smart Low Light is available on all docks. Night Mode and NI-R are supported only on Dock 3.
